New regulation of Vietnam on compulsory content to be displayed by electronic methods on goods labels

On December 30, 2022, the Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam promulgated Circular No. 18/2022/TT-BKHCN elaborating on several compulsory contents to be displayed on goods labels of several goods groups by electronic methods.

According to the Circular, one of the principles of displaying several compulsory contents by electronic methods is that organizations and individuals may choose to label their goods via electronic methods or directly label their goods, commercial packages of the goods, or documents enclosed with the goods.

Below are compulsory contents to be displayed by electronic methods on labels of several goods groups, specifically:

- Non-electric household appliances and devices: Components; Technical specifications; User manuals, and preservation instructions;

- Gemstones: Technical specifications;

- Gold jewelry and fine art: Content, mass; the weight of mounted objects (if any); product code;

- Bicycles: Manufacturer's name; year of manufacture; basic technical specifications;

- Vehicle spare parts: Trademark, trade name, and model code (if any);

- Construction materials and interior decorations: Technical specifications; Month of manufacture; User manuals, preservation instructions; etc.
