RCEP Agreement officially in force as from January 1, 2022

On November 16, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issues the Official Dispatch No. 7268/BCT-DB giving announcement of the entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.

As stated in the Agreement, it will be in force 60 days after a minimum of six ASEAN members and three partner states ratify/approve the Agreement, and deposit it with the ASEAN Secretary General.

Till November 2, 2021, there have been 06 ASEAN states, including Vietnam, and 04 partner states, namely China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, that have deposited their approved/ratified texts of RCEP Agreement with the ASEAN Secretary General.

Thus, RCEP Agreement is officially entering in force as from January 1, 2022.

RCEP Agreement is a free trade agreement that is signed by 10 ASEAN member states and 05 partner states (namely, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand) on November 15, 2020.

The Official Dispatch No. 7268/BCT-DB is issued on November 16, 2021.
