Certificates of covered leave valid up to 30 days-off for each medical visit

According to the Official Dispatch No. 1492/KCB-PHCN&GD dated November 19, 2021, regarding issuance of documents included in application packages for payment of social insurance coverage to covered employees, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment under the control of the Ministry of Health requests healthcare establishments to issue and manage certificates of leave eligible for social insurance allowance in accordance with the Circular No. 56/2017/TT-BYT dated December 29, 2017.

This document specifically prescribes that a certificate of covered leave is valid up to 30 days-off for each medical visit

If the patient needs to take leave for more than 30 days, before expiry of the certificate of covered leave that he/she holds, he/she is required to make a medical revisit to seek practitioners’ decisions.  

In addition, relevant units are requested to guide covered employees to complete their applications for social insurance coverage in accordance with regulations if the aforesaid documents are illegally issued.
