Vietnam to increase the prevention and control of crimes of online gambling in the 2022 World Cup

On November 4, 2022, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Resolution No. 143/NQ-CP on the periodic meeting session of the Government of Vietnam in October 2022.

According to the Resolution, in the last months of 2022, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has tasks of taking charge and cooperating with agencies and local authorities in:

- Focusing on the prevention and control of crimes, especially cybercrimes and gambling and organization of gambling in cyberspace during the 2022 World Cup.

- Conducting general review and inspection and promoting the implementation of the safety work of fire prevention and control and nationwide rescue, reducing the loss of life and property caused by fire and explosion.

- Synchronously adopting measures to ensure traffic order and safety, organizing traffic divergence, regulating traffic, preventing traffic jams on key traffic routes, and strictly handling cases of violations of alcohol content when participating in traffic and acts of illegal racing, especially during the 2022 World Cup.

- Increasing measures to ensure political security and social order and safety. Taking charge and cooperating with relevant ministries and central authorities in ensuring economic security, especially the security of finance, banking, and energy during the year-end and the Lunar New Year 2023.

- Strictly handling acts of spreading false information affecting economic security, national and ethnic benefits, violating legitimate rights and benefits of organizations and individuals, and in case of necessity, conducting criminal prosecution, investigation, and handling to increase deterrence following regulations of the law.
